Wayne Simon Parker

Wayne Simon Parker passed away peacefully on June 16, 2025, at Hospice Savannah.

Born in Albany, GA, to the late Wesley and Leatha Parker, Wayne moved to Savannah as a baby. He graduated from Jenkins School in 1960 and was married for 62 years to Geraldine “Jerry” Parker. A dedicated member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) since 1966, Wayne served on both the Local 508 Executive Board and the Examining Board. After retiring, he organized the monthly retirees' breakfast for many years.

Wayne was also the former president and a longtime member of the Savannah Handgun Association. Additionally, he was an active member of the Mossey Oak Gun Club at Hunter Army Airfield and the 17 South Gun Club. Wayne enjoyed woodworking and building furniture, and he was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing, and shooting sports. He was a longtime member of Wildwood Methodist Church and later became a member of Grace Methodist Church.

In addition to his parents, Wayne was predeceased by his wife, Jerry, and sister, Judy Smith (Charles).

He is survived by his son, Stephen Parker, and daughter-in-law, Cindy Parker, of Sylvania; his daughter, Stacey Parker Brown, and son-in-law, Nick Brown, of South Bend, IN; as well as his grandchildren: Heather Rahn (Alston), Brittany McDaniel (Michael), Wesley Parker (Courtney), and Jordan Parker. Wayne is also survived by five great-grandchildren: Hallie, Hadden, Kynslee, Carlie, and Grayson.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel. A funeral service will follow at 12:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Wayne will be laid to rest next to Jerry in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
